HSGA’s 33rd Annual Mainland Festival

Save the Date!   The 2019 HSGA Mainland Festival is scheduled for September 19-21 at the Hilton Hotel in Fort Collins.

Our guest artist this year will be John Ely who is a master steel player, incredible teacher  and editor for our quarterly newsletter.

We’ll have more details to come.

Room reservations at the Hilton can be made on line or you can call the Hilton directly at (970) 482-2626 and request the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association room block for our discounted rate (our group code is “AHG”).

Honolulu’s Annual Lei Festival

Kapi’olani Park on Wednesday, May 1, 2019

“Grifford (Kamaka) Tom has indicated that a number of HSGA members and others will be performing at the Honolulu’s Annual Lei Festival in Kapi’olani Park on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. They will be traveling from places like Japan, the mainland USA, New Zealand, England, and Hawaii’s islands. Kamaka will be coordinating the live concert by local and visiting Hawaiian guitar soloists at the park that day with sponsorship from the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Kamaka Tom will also host an event on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waikiki Elks Lodge to host his performers.   Performers will be scheduled at 30-minute intervals on stage. Kamaka a current Lodge member and regular steel guitarist for the weekly 616 Hawaiian Singers ensemble, will invite some local and visiting Hawaiian steel guitarists as well as HSGA members. These live performances will be at no cost to HSGA nor the Elks Lodge and Club. The need for sound support will be limited to the currently installed public address system. All other equipment will be provided by Kamaka. All performers and their guests will be sponsored by Kamaka, Members and guests will be allowed to photograph and videotape our live performances with no restrictions. The number of performers and their guests will be limited to twenty-five (25) persons.  See additional updates from Kamaka regarding Banquet and Catering options, as performers and guests may be invited to purchase food and beverage from the Lodge  during their visit on that day.”
