This year we will be raffling off a lovely Cast Aluminum Clinesmith long scale 8-string lap steel guitar in September at our Emeryville, CA Festival. This guitar was generously donated by HSGA member Mark Roeder. Mahalo Mark!
This raffle is open to HSGA members only. New members who join between July 1, 2024 and September 28, 2024 (by 4:00 p.m. Pacific time) will receive one free raffle entry. If you are not a HSGA member please select the “Free Raffle ticket with NEW Membership (8/15 - 9/28/24)”
We ask that new members also complete the membership application on our website. Please see HSGA.org and click the “JOIN” button in the upper right corner for member benefits and specifics.
The raffle will be held on Saturday evening, September 28 at 4:15 p.m. at the HSGA Festival in Emeryville, CA. You do not need to be present to win. But you must be a current HSGA Member. Good luck!
2024 HSGA Festival Information
This year, we are honoring and celebrating the legendary Hawaiian steel guitarist Alvin Kanalikau “Barney” Isaacs, as this year would have been his 100th Birthday. The fabulous Alan Akaka will be our Special Guest Performer.
We request that members who plan on attending complete and submit the festival registration form by August 30, 2024. If you would like to perform at the festival, please complete the Performer portion of the registration form, Both of these forms can also be completed online at the hsga.org website. For those who wish to perform, keep in mind that you do not have to play an entire 25 minute set. Just let us know on the registration form how much play time you would like.

When the pandemic made live festivals impossible we decided to produce virtual festivals. This gave both musicians and interested viewers the opportunity to continue to see and hear Hawaiian steel guitar music. We have had six to date, and we plan to produce two virtual festivals a year as well as our live yearly festival.

Festivals
The 2024 Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Windward Mall will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Kāne‘ohe’s Windward Mall. This festival begins at 11:00 A.M. and will feature favorite steel guitar masters from O‘ahu singing and playing Hawai‘i’s favorite Hawaiian music.
This festival will be presented free to the public by Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE) and the Windward Mall. Funding for the festival and livestream broadcast will be provided by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA), through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawai‘i or grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Additional funding will be provided by the Laurence H. Dorcy Hawaiian Foundation. Equipment provided to NextGEn steel guitarists by John Pearse Strings.
